Modern residential leasehold legislation provides a statutory mechanism for leaseholders (under certain defined conditions) to form a 'Right-to-Manage' (RTM) limited company and to assume the management responsibilities of the landlord or designated management company.

The process allows leaseholders to control appointment of sub-contractor managing agents, sub-contracted services and, in most cases, the placement of block and other insurance policies.
